Het Kruideniersmuseum

Discover the taste of the past

The Kruideniersmuseum is located in a beautiful 17th-century building in Utrecht's historic city centre. The building was carefully renovated in 2022 and furnished to show off the collection to its best advantage. The new museum is the successor to Utrecht's 'Betje Boerhave shop and museum'. In the new museum, a grocery shop has also been recreated in detail so that you immediately get the feeling of stepping into the past.

This feeling is enhanced by the fact that you can buy food/groceries and delicacies in the shop just like in the old days. Besides the historical shop, the grocery museum consists of beautiful exhibition rooms. Unique grocery items are displayed in beautiful showcases. Such as soap in packaging from World War II to the present, beautiful tins and many products that customers used to be able to buy.
